Loki Laufeyson came from a very wealthy pureblood family, the Odinsons. Loki was supposed to be raised Loki Odinson, but that lie was never a very good one. Loki can’t remember when he was told, or even if he was told, he just always remembers knowing that he was adopted, and because of that simple fact his father would never fully accept him. He remembered doing research at some point and asking that his name be changed to his birthright: Laufeyson. He never dug much deeper into his true family than the name though (something deep inside him acknowledged that it was because he was afraid of what he would find, but the rest of his mind kindly ignored that one part).
His early childhood was a good one, all things considering. The Odinsons moved from Norway to Wales when Loki was only 4. As such he speaks both English and Norse fluently. His father tried to convince him with things and words that he was loved and wanted by him, but Loki never bought it. His mother was far warmer in her affections, and tried her hardest to make her youngest “son” part of the family, but she could not go further into Loki’s heart than he would allow. This is not to say Loki did not care for his parents. He did love them both, he still craved his father’s attention and approval, and he still missed his mother’s hugs and kisses when they were away, but he knew that no matter what they might say, they could never feel the same.
His brother, on the other hand, was a completely different matter. Thor was always there for him; to comfort him when he had nightmares, to chase away the bullies and help Loki bandage his wounds, to hold him until the crying stopped (because, despite all the bravado, Loki was still just a boy). Loki loved Thor. Thor was the only one he would believe the lies of “I love you” and “I miss you” from. When Thor went away to Hogwarts Loki wrote him almost every day, sometimes multiple times a day. He wished he could just go to Hogwarts early: partially because he believed it a great waste of his time and mind to spend his days at home, but mostly because he missed Thor.

He learned in his 3rd year at Hogwarts that not only was he adopted, but that he came from a long line of powerful Dark Wizards in Norway. Odin had lead the team to take the family out and had found a baby Loki.

Shortly thereafter Loki stopped calling him Father and began to grow more distant from Thor.

From this point there are a few possible endings for Loki

ONE
Loki disappears for a few years, only to return to lead a campaign to take over the Ministry. It can be successful or unsuccessful depending on what is being played

TWO
Loki disappears for several years and attempts to take over a small European Nation. He fails, but escapes justice there. He returns to be a nuisance to the Ministry. Always causing problems, but always avoiding capture

THREE
Same as TWO, but he does not escape the failed attempted coup. He comes back to England 15 years after his graduation and quietly opens a bookshop in Hogsmead. There may or may not be high-quality prank paraphernalia to those who know how to ask.
